Bonfires Set Around Portland Federal Courthouse

Books, Bibles, and flags were burned as part of the demonstrations.

Books, including a stack of Bibles, were added to the fire burning an American flag in Portland, Oregon, continuing the two months of demonstrations.

While demonstrations often remain peaceful in the early evening, many have turned violent as they get later into the night. Federal agents withdrew last week as part of a deal to allow local authorities to handle the protests.

In response to a video recently circulating showing Bibles being added to a fire which was already being used to burn a flag, President Donald Trump said, “Now we move to the book-burning phase. I’m pretty sure ANTIFA doesn’t actually stand for what they say it stands for.”

The fire was later put out by members of Moms United for Black Lives Matter, who doused the flames with bottles of water, according to a local television station.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for lawmakers in cities with demonstrations, that their decisions would be in the best interest of their people.
  • For God to be at work through the hearts and minds of our nation’s citizens.
  • For safety and protection for all law enforcement and demonstrators during this time.
