President Receives Warm Welcome in India

President Trump First Lady Prime Minister Modi
Announces $3 billion defense deal

President Trump received a rousing welcome in India on Monday. He addressed a crowd of some 125,000 people at the world’s largest cricket stadium. He called Prime Minister Modi a “true friend” and praised the bond between the United States and India.

During his address, the president announced a defense deal in which India will purchase more than $3 billion in American helicopters and other military equipment. He thanked the Indian people “for the spectacular welcome to your magnificent country.”

Following his address, the president, first lady and members of his entourage that included his daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared, traveled to see the Taj Mahal “in its golden sunset glory” and then flew to New Delhi.

He said that a trade deal with India might be reached in the near future, although the parties were in the “earlier stage” of negotiations. He credited Prime Minister Modi with being a very tough negotiator.

Tomorrow, the president will be meeting with business and technology leaders along with government officials in India. Some American businesses will also be represented at the meeting. There will be more discussions with the prime minister, and in the evening, there will be a state dinner.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump and his travels in and negotiations with India over trade, military defense, technical cooperation and more.
  • For the safety and continued good health of all who are a part of the president’s travel group.
