Oklahoma Man Charged for Sending Powder-Filled Letters to Members of Congress

The investigation began in 2024, when similar envelopes were sent to election officials.

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma has unsealed information surrounding the charges against an Oklahoma man who is accused of mailing hundreds of powder-filled letters to members of Congress and other public officials ahead of the 2024 and 2026 elections. The defendant was arrested this week and is facing charges of conveying a hoax and mailing threatening communications. The powders were identified as either flour or yeast, though not all of the letters have been fully tested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Last month, federal authorities announced the ongoing investigation into the envelopes, which had begun in 2024 when “suspicious substances” and message had been received by public officials nationwide. As a precaution, the mailings have been treated as potentially hazardous, and several officials’ offices were evacuated due to the letters.

FBI David Cole stated in an affidavit that the man is believed to have mailed over 700 such envelopes to election officials, Congress members, pollsters, news media, and federal law enforcement agents. In addition to the powder, some of the letters letters claimed that President Trump won the 2020 election and expressed concerns about the count from the 2024 election.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Justice Department officials as they seek to hold perpetrators accountable for threats against public servants.
  • For FBI agents as they seek to prevent domestic terrorism and attacks.
  • For Attorney General Blanche to be led by the Lord as he oversees the Justice Department.
