President Trump Commutes Former Congressman’s Sentence

President Signs Documents
The former representative was being held in solitary confinement for “protection.”

President Donald Trump announced that he commuted the prison sentence of former Representative George Santos of New York. Santos had pleaded guilty to wire fraud and identity theft last year, largely related to his political campaign, and had been expelled from the House of Representatives before being convicted. He had been sentenced to more than seven years in prison. After threats against the life of the former congressman, Santos was reportedly held in inhumane conditions in solitary confinement.

President Trump described Santos as “somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison.”

“George has been in solitary confinement for long stretches of time and, by all accounts, has been horribly mistreated,” President Trump stated on Friday. “Therefore, I just signed a Commutation, releasing George Santos from prison, IMMEDIATELY. Good luck George, have a great life!”

Santos was released later that day from federal prison in southern New Jersey.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump to receive God’s guidance as he considers requests for commutations and pardons.
  • For federal, state, and local prison and jail officials to fulfill their roles with integrity and care for prisoners humanely.
