Issue 634 – Verse of the Week

February 15th – February 21st, 2024

VERSE OF THE WEEK

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.     Isaiah 26:3

Be Still My Soul

The prophet Isaiah recorded the words of God directing the people of Judah and Jerusalem to wait upon the Lord. God’s people were under threat from their enemies and some were looking to escape to neighboring Egypt for safety. The Lord told them not to run and that, if they returned to Him, repented, and trusted Him, they would be saved. God said, “In quietness and in trust shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). As the United States and the world appear to spin into increasing chaos, you may be tempted to take action or grasp for some sense of control to make yourself feel safe. The Lord calls you to trust in Him and worship Him as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). As the writer of Psalm 118 declares, “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (118:6-7). When you are still and prayerfully focused on Almighty God and His promises, your faith will grow stronger and your confidence in Him will increase. Keep your mind and your imagination focused on Him today, and receive His peace!
