Issue 634 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

President Biden issued a memorandum this month that requires allies that receive U.S. aid to provide written assurance that they are adhering to international law and international human rights law. The State Department and the Department of Defense are required to issue reports on allies’ compliance with the requirements.

For the president and officials in his administration as they place conditions on allies who are recipients of U.S. military aid.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

The House of Representatives voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas this week on two articles of impeachment related to his handling of the U.S. border and immigration. Speaker Mike Johnson said that the DHS secretary was responsible for “fueling the worst border catastrophe in American history.” The articles are being sent to the Senate for trial.

Pray for wisdom for Speaker Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Schumer as they head their respective legislative chambers.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technology held a hearing to safeguard American communication networks from foreign adversaries. Committee Chair Rodgers and Subcommittee Chair Latta stated, “To remain competitive and secure, the U.S. must ensure our communications and technological infrastructure is protected against adversaries, in particular the Chinese Communist Party.“

Pray for House and Senate committees as they seek to protect U.S. infrastructure from foreign attacks.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

Federal Judge David Alan Ezra dismissed a lawsuit against President Biden’s administration regarding its authority to negotiate Medicare drug prices. The judge ruled that the pharmaceutical lobbying group lacked standing to bring the suit. Eight other lawsuits have been filed against the administration by drug companies and other plaintiffs.

Pray for prudence for federal judges as they hear challenges regarding federal agencies’ powers and jurisdiction.
