House Refers Impeachment of DHS Secretary to Committee

Representative Greene introduced articles of impeachment for the alleged mismanagement of the border crisis.

The House of Representatives referred a resolution to impeach Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas to the Homeland Security Committee. The motion was introduced by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia last week, who alleged that Secretary Mayorkas was unfit for the position because of his mismanagement of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The referral of the motion allows the committee of jurisdiction to proceed with the existing investigation.

Representative Cliff Bentz of Oregon, one of those who voted against impeaching, stated on Tuesday, “The bottom line is this, I actually want to impeach and convict the guy, not just impeach. Last night’s resolution had not gone through the regular order committee process and thus gave a political out to the Senate.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the House committee who are conducting the investigation into Secretary Mayorkas’ handling of the U.S.-Mexican border.
  • For Speaker Johnson to be led by the Lord as he presides over the lower chamber of Congress.
  • For national security officials to uphold federal immigration laws and regulations.
