Secretary Blinken Speaks at Congo Hackathon Event

Competition exhibited projects that protect election processes and addressing misinformation.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke at the Election Transparency Hackathon Event on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of technological innovation for nations around the world. The competition was hosted at the Kinshasa Digital Academy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where competitors demonstrate projects that have been developed to preserve and protect the integrity of the election process.

“One of the most powerful facts is that in the next couple of years, by 2025, half of the population of Africa will be 25 years old or younger,” said Secretary Blinken. “I think the DRC has an opportunity to set a powerful example – not just for the region, not just for the continent, but actually for the world at a time when we see some real challenges to democracy around the world.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. officials who are seeking to ensure the integrity of the 2022 midterms.
  • For Secretary Blinken to be discerning as he discusses election integrity with other nation’s leaders.
  • For federal judges as they hear cases regarding voting laws and processes.
