Issue 547 – Verse of the Week

June 16th – June 22th, 2022

VERSE OF THE WEEK

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.   Ephesians 6:10

Did God Actually Say?

In today’s post-modern society, relativism rules. “I have my truth and you have yours,” some say, calling on situational ethics and the absence of absolutes. To stand against deception, you need to be a student of the Word of God. Genesis 3:1 says, “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, You shall not eat of any tree in the garden?” Of course, you know the answer to Satan’s question was “No.” But she was influenced by the devil’s craftiness… the same craftiness he uses with human beings today, which causes people to say, “Surely the Bible doesn’t mean…” (fill in the blank). Ephesians 6:10-14 begins the familiar passage on your spiritual armor. The reminder in verse 12 is who you are battling—that same crafty spiritual force that confronted Eve.  But four times in those few verses, you are reminded to stand. Your strong foundation is the Word of God. Study it and know it so that, when the time comes, you’ll be able to stand for what God actually does say.
