Issue 515 – Verse of the Week

November 4th – November 10th, 2021

VERSE OF THE WEEK

I lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come?  Psalm 121:1

Lord, to Whom Shall We Go?

J.B. Coats, a music teacher and evangelistic choral director, was born in 1901. One day he was sitting beside a dying neighbor in Summerland, Mississippi, an old African-American man named Joe Keyes. Coats asked the man if he knew where he would spend eternity. Mr. Keyes responded, “Where could I go but to the Lord?” Years later, Coats used the old man’s words to write the song, “Where could I go but to the Lord.” John 6:66 says there came a time in Jesus’ ministry when many of His disciples no longer walked with Him. But Peter responded, “Lord, to whom shall we go?” That is a question to ponder today. Whether disturbed over world events, depressed over illness or financial hardship, challenged in a marriage or a job… there is but one Source of help. Your help is found in the Lord.
