No Winners, No Losers
Dear Members,
With election hype everywhere today, we say to you, there will be no winners and no losers. What? While individually we may have our own candidate of choice, but as a prayer ministry, we look ahead to our task of praying earnestly for the person God calls to lead the nation. Daniel 2:21 reminds us that it is God who “sets up kings and takes them down,” and it is all according to His purpose.
Each election cycle, national and local leaders may change. During this change, some within our membership decide that they can “no longer pray” for one or more newly elected official. Human authority may change, but God’s sovereignty and His call for us to pray never changes. Centuries ago, despite a leader who opposed God and sought to kill people of faith, the Apostle Paul told all Christians, “Pray for your leaders…for this pleases God” (1 Timothy 2:1-3). Disagreeing with those in authority doesn’t exempt you from praying that God would work His perfect will through them.
The hours and days ahead may be difficult and maybe even dangerous. To trust in our Sovereign God means putting aside what we want and watching God move. The late Billy Graham once reminded us that the minor prophet Habakkuk wanted to know what God was up to. God responded, “Look around the nations, and see; wonder and be astonished. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told” (Habakkuk 1:5).

Are you willing to trust that God is still in control? Are you willing to accept that there are no winners or losers, only persons for whom God desires you to pray? Are you ready to be a part of the work of God—a part of His purpose for America—by continuing to be faithful in prayer?
