Supreme Court Blocks Alabama Curbside Voting

Voters must appear in person.

The Supreme Court announced this past week that the Justices of the Court had made a determination on the legality of Alabama’s curb-side voting program. In a 5-to-3 ruling, the court determined the expansion of voting ability was unconstitutional, but gave no explanation to their ruling, as is normal under an emergency application.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor had stern words in her dissenting opinion, writing, “If those vulnerable voters wish to vote in person. They must wait inside, for as long as it takes, in a crowd of fellow voters whom Alabama does not require to wear face coverings.” With under two weeks until election day, it is unlikely that any appeals process will take place before polls open.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Court to have wisdom on the best course of action to take in future cases.
  • That all Americans would be able to vote without issue if they are eligible.
  • For God to lead the Supreme Court in their future decisions.
