ACLU Requests Release of Infected Kansas Inmates

The organization proposed this in the wake of a prison riot.

On Friday, the Kansas Supreme Court granted expedited legal response to the American Civil Liberties Union after the organization demanded that immunocompromised prisoners be released from the Lansing Correctional Facility.

The organization heard the desires of the inmates of the facility loud and clear after 20 men staged a prison riot Thursday afternoon. The inmates lit small fires, broke into offices and damaged facility windows, computers, and furniture. They were subdued at 11 p.m. with tear gas.

The ACLU is slated to present an oral argument to the Kansas Supreme Court on behalf of the inmates this upcoming Wednesday. The Kansas Supreme Court recognizes that prison inmates and staff are especially at risk of contamination.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Kansas Supreme Court as they bring understanding and justice to strange times.
  • That President Trump and his administration would consider all American Citizens during this crisis.
  • That God’s hand of protection would be over prisoners during the coronavirus epidemic.
