Congress Approves Rescissions Package, Goes to President for Signing

An amendment on releasing the Epstein files delayed the process on Thursday – President Trump directed the DOJ to release “relevant“ files.

The House of Representatives passed the $9 billion rescissions package on Friday, along party lines. The measure reclaims federal funding that was already approved by Congress. The package cancels various taxpayer funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting, though a provision was made through the Interior Department for support for broadcasters who provide emergency messaging for a number of tribal communities.

The package was crafted by White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, who followed the recommendations of the Department of Government Efficiency to codify spending cuts. The measure passed on the final day of the statutory deadline under the 1974 impoundment control law. President Donald Trump is expected to sign the bill quickly.

An attempt to add an amendment requiring the release of the files on deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein delayed the proceedings in the House. The amendment was ultimately defeated after a separate resolution for the release of the files received support. President Trump announced that he was directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to released relevant grand jury testimony before the resolution came to the House floor for a vote.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he orders the declassification of files and investigations for public transparency.
  • For Attorney General Pamela Bondi as she manages the Department of Justice.
  • For House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune as they preside over their respective chambers of Congress.
