Issue 593 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

The Marine Corps and Space Force are the only service branches that have met their FY2023 recruitment goals, the lowest experienced since the end of the Vietnam War, and a concern to national security. The Government Accountability Office reports that the military has no plan for handling the ongoing recruiting shortfalls.

Pray for military leaders and recruiting officials as they assess the needs of the U.S. Armed Forces and the overall readiness of America’s protectors.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The chairman of Russia’s security council, Dimitry Medvedev, said, “The world is sick and quite probably on the verge of a new world war.” He warned that the risks of a nuclear confrontation were on the increase.

Pray for officials attempting to negotiate a settlement to end the war in Ukraine, and for those seeking to avert nuclear conflict.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., the president of the Philippines, recently made a four-day trip to the U.S. He met with President Joe Biden to establish closer ties with the United States, which he said are “essential to advancing our national interest and strengthening that very important alliance.” The U.S. reports that the Chinese coast guard was harassing Philippine vessels during President Marcos’ visit.

Pray for U.S. diplomats and allies as they seek to strengthen relationships to deter Chinese aggression.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The University of Colorado Cancer Center released a new study that shows that the spread of cancer cells in pancreatic cancer patients can be stopped with a combination of radiation and immunotherapy. The study stated that doctors have been able to eradicate tumors and “can stop the disease from coming back.”

Pray, with thanksgiving, for researchers and doctors who are making advancements in the study and treatment of cancers.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy spoke to the Knesset while in Israel, assuring them of bipartisan support in the United States for Israel despite tensions between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Biden. Speaker McCarthy said Israel and the U.S. “stand shoulder to shoulder against Iran’s regional aggression” and did not endorse a two-state solution with Palestinians.

Give thanks for a free Israel that is celebrating 75 years of statehood in the present era.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

In the latest housing report, prices increased half a percentage point during March. Sales of pre-owned homes, however, were down 2.4 percent.

Pray for U.S. economic officials and members of the Federal Reserve as they assess the rate of inflation and for President Biden as he proposes policies on “creditworthiness sharing.”

Pray for Goodness in America

At the University of Oklahoma, a student-led evangelistic “Fill the Stadium” event had more than 80,000 people signed up for tickets in a matter of days. The evangelistic outreach is part of the new awakening taking place among young people in America. One pastor called it “the most significant university outreach in the history of America.” He called it “something only God could do.”

Give thanks for the way God is working in the lives of young Americans and pray that this makes a difference in the nation.

Pray for Needs Across the States

An agreement has been reached in New York between Governor Kathy Hochul and legislators to phase out hookups for natural gas in new buildings beginning in 2025. It is the first of its kind state law related to the elimination of gas.

Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia signed legislation that provides $5.4 million to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement to address unresolved homicide cases. It would also allow families of the deceased to receive death certificates in those cold cases.

Pray for state governors and legislators who are facing cultural changes as demographics shift.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

Believing God wants you to tithe and doing it are two different things. Some who do not tithe are consistent with their giving at a lower threshold, and others give when they feel they are able. Like many exhortations in Scripture, giving your finances to God is not necessarily easy in practice.“ – Scott McConnell, Executive Director, LifeWay Research, April 2023
