In the News…

The lengthy voting sessions to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives were partly covered by C-SPAN cameras. However, the new House rules, adopted last week, no longer permit C-SPAN cameras in the chamber. They said, “We have resumed using the feed from House/government-operated cameras.”

Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida said more cameras were needed to provide insight for the American people and increase transparency in legislative matters.

“I think what was really different about this is we had cameras actually filming the members of Congress on the floor. That doesn’t usually happen in here. The American people got to see some of the chats and some of the disagreements, and I think that’s actually a good thing for the republic,” Congressman Gaetz said. “I’m going to be working with my colleagues in Congress to allow MORE cameras on the House Floor.”
