She was being investigated for allegedly mistreating staff and leveraging her position for personal gain.
U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle announced her resignation on Tuesday after White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia stated, at her first press conference, that President Donald Trump had asked Guilfoyle to resign. The ambassador had allegedly mistreated her staff and tried to leverage her diplomatic position for personal gain.
The State Department’s inspector general had begun an investigation into Guilfoyle, who was formerly Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée. President Trump stated on Monday that he was “not happy“ about the situation and indicated he was considering dismissing her.
“Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime,” Guilfoyle stated in her resignation. “These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump as he considers individuals for appointments to federal roles.
- For the former ambassador as she seeks to refute the accusations and clear her name.
- For the inspectors general of federal agencies as they conduct investigations into ethical complaints.
