Vice President Vance Heads U.S. Delegation for Iran Peace Talks in Switzerland

He said the administration’s preference is to change relations in the Middle East permanently.

Vice President JD Vance led the U.S. delegation to Switzerland over the weekend for talks with Iranian, Pakistani, and Qatari representatives on the memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran. The talks at Burgenstock concluded on Monday with progress toward a final peace deal.

“The final deal is the house,” Vice President Vance said. “We set the foundation. We haven’t built the house, but we’ve laid a successful foundation to get to a good place for the American people.” He also said that uranium inspectors will begin assessments this week.

Continued conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has complicated the U.S.-Iran ceasefire. Iran has insisted that the conflict in Lebanon be part of the deal, though its terror proxy has consistently fired upon Israeli security forces in Lebanon.
