HHS Secretary Announces Initiatives to Address Lyme Disease and Treatment

The new plan includes collaboration with private organizations, funding for public awareness, and efforts to reduce tick populations.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., announced a series of initiatives designed to strengthen the United States’ efforts to address Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. The announcement was made recently in New Hampshire, which has one of the states most impacted by Lyme disease. Secretary Kennedy also held a roundtable with state legislators and Lyme disease advocates as part of his “Take Back Your Health” tour.

“Millions of Americans battling Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses have spent years searching for answers, treatment, and support,“ Secretary Kennedy stated. “The Trump Administration is launching one of the most ambitious federal efforts ever to combat Lyme disease by accelerating research, expanding innovation, and improving care for patients and families. We are going after this disease at its source, driving faster diagnostics and new prevention strategies, and delivering the urgency and action Americans deserve.”

The initiatives include a multi-million-dollar collaborative pilot program to reduce tick populations and disrupt their breeding cycles; up to $2.5 million in funding to support innovations in public awareness, treatment, and patient care; funding to help combat Alpha-gal syndrome, another common tick-borne illness; and a new collaboration with the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) to help patients connect with healthcare providers and educational resources related to Lyme disease.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Kennedy as he oversees the implementation of these efforts to address tick-borne illnesses.
  • For HHS officials as they implement the initiatives to improve and strengthen treatment and patient care.
  • For Americans who have been diagnosed with Lyme disease and other blood-borne illnesses to find healing and restoration.
