Progress continues on the fulfillment of the Alaska Land Transfer Program.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) is fulfilling requirements under the Alaska Statehood Act, transferring additional land to expand Alaska’s development opportunities. Lands north of the Yukon River have been opened for development, adding 1.4 million acres to the lands available for resource development. This land contains crucial assets, including parts of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and Dalton Highway, as well as areas where infrastructure is under development.
“This decisive action puts Alaska at the forefront of American Energy Dominance,” said Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. He continued that President Trump is “advancing the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas project, the Ambler Road, and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline—to strengthen our economy, bolster national security, and drive down costs for American families.”
“For far too long, we have been at a relative standstill on statehood entitlements because these critically important lands were off the table,” said Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Alaska State Director Kevin Pendergast.
Now, BLM’s Alaska Land Transfer Program has only 3.8 million acres left to transfer as part of the 105 million-acre entitlement. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources affirmed its commitment to monitoring potential impacts to public access.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Principal Deputy Director Groffy, State Director Pendergast, and officials at BLM as they oversee the transfer of lands to Alaska.
- For Secretary Burgum to seek God’s guidance as he leads the Interior Department.
