President Asks Supreme Court to Allow White House Ballroom Construction

The solicitor general stated the ballroom and underground military bunker are “vitally required by national security.”

President Donald Trump has appealed the ruling of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals that determined the construction of the White House ballroom unlawful to the Supreme Court. The appellate court placed an injunction on the project, stating that Congress alone can determine funding for the renovation. The decision did allow underground security structure work to continue.

“This case involves an extraordinary and unlawful injunction that will halt the ongoing construction of the integrated military complex, including a totally secure ballroom space, at the East Wing of the White House, which is vitally required by national security,” U.S. Solicitor General John Sauer stated in the filing. “The entire ballroom structure is designed to shield the military installation beneath it.”

The appeal asks the high court to allow construction to continue as the lawsuit from the historic preservation group proceeds, since the project is currently 65 percent complete.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For prudence for the justices of the Supreme Court as they consider the administration’s request to continue the White House construction project.
  • For DOJ officials as they make the national security case for the ballroom and bunker.
  • For President Trump to be led by the Lord in his actions and decisions.
