He had not communicated with House colleagues since early March.
Representative Thomas Kean, Jr., of New Jersey issued a statement this week regarding an unspecified personal health issue that has kept him from appearing in the House of Representatives since March 7. Members of his party, including Representatives Chris Smith and Jeff Van Drew, also of New Jersey, were beginning to express their concern after his lack of response to communications they sent.
“I want to thank my constituents and colleagues for their patience as I address a personal medical issue,” Representative Kean stated on social media. “My doctors continue to assure me that my recovery will be complete and that I will be back to the job I love very soon.“
He added, “I take my responsibilities seriously and have a strong record of showing up and delivering, which makes this absence all the more difficult.” The congressman thanked his staff for manning his office and his House colleagues for their patience.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Congressman Kean to make a complete recovery from his health issue.
- For the representative’s medical team as they monitor his recuperation.
- For members of the House and Senate to be transparent regarding their health and fitness for their duties.
