The U.S. and Ecuador expand their joint capacity to fight against crime across borders.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is opening an office in Quito, Ecuador. The announcement is part of the ongoing cooperation between the United States and Ecuador as they jointly combat organized crime and drug trafficking. Ecuador has created a unit in the National Police as part of the agreement, which has been structured for close contact with FBI agents, establishing a framework to facilitate operations and investigations.
The U.S. Embassy in Quito said that this new office will increase both countries’ ability to “identify, dismantle and bring to justice those who traffic drugs, launder money, smuggle weapons and finance terrorism.”
This binational cooperation reflects the U.S. continued support for countries in Central and South America that are increasingly addressing terrorism, cartels, drug trafficking, and other organized crime.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Director Patel to be led by the Lord as he heads the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- For officials in the new FBI office to be effective in coordinating investigations between the U.S. and Ecuador.
- For U.S. agents as they engage in the fight against transnational crime.
