Secretary of State Announces New Agreement on UN Humanitarian Aid

Marco Rubio Speaking
The memorandum of understanding addresses waste and inefficiency in aid administration.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Geneva this week that updates and reforms the administration of U.S. humanitarian aid.

“The United States remains the most generous nation in the world for lifesaving humanitarian assistance—but under [President Trump’s] leadership taxpayer dollars will never fund waste, anti-Americanism, or inefficiency,” Secretary Rubio stated. “The State Department and United Nations [have] signed an agreement that radically reforms the way the U.S. programs, funds, and oversees UN-administered humanitarian work, ensuring that more lives will be saved for fewer U.S. taxpayer dollars.”

The secretary concluded, “This new model will better share the burden of UN humanitarian work with other developed countries and will require the UN to cut bloat, remove duplication, and commit to powerful new impact, accountability and oversight mechanisms.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rubio as he oversees the implementation of the new agreement on administering U.S. humanitarian aid.
  • For President Trump and members of his Cabinet as they seek methods to improve the efficiency and reduce waste in the use of taxpayer dollars.
