Liberia Agrees to Accept 1,200 Third-Country Deportees from the U.S.

The first 20 deportees are set to arrive in Liberia this week.

The United States reached an agreement with Liberia for the latter to accept up to 1,200 third-country illegal aliens from the U.S. This is one of the largest such arrangements made by President Trump as his administration increases federal immigration enforcement. Similar deportation agreements have also been made between the U.S. and nearly two dozen other countries, including the Dominican Republic, Eswatini, Cameroon, and South Sudan. The agreements are partly to protect migrants who have been determined by U.S. immigration judges to be in danger if returned to their home countries.

The deportees will all be sent to Liberia within the coming year, with the first 20 received this week. Deportees are expected to include foreign nationals from Africa, North America, South America, and the Caribbean. The illegal immigrants have already been screened by Liberian officials and are approved to enter the country. Liberia will also receive support from the U.S. to help with program management and strengthen the migration system.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rubio as he heads the State Department and engages in discussions with Liberian officials.
  • For Secretary Mullin and DHS personnel as they oversee the coordination of the deportation of migrants from the U.S. to Liberia.
  • For President Trump to be discerning in his continued focus on federal immigration enforcement.
