Agents discovered 200,000 additional SIM cards connected to the New Jersey network.
The Secret Service continues to uncover evidence behind an illegal network of servers and SIM cards around the New York area. They reported last week that the investigation recovered an additional 200,000 cell phone SIM cards connected to the network in New Jersey. They originally found 100,000 SIM cards registered on the New York network.
“The potential for disruption to our country’s telecommunications posed by this network of devices cannot be overstated,” Secret Service Director Sean Curran said at the initial discovery.
The Secret Service discovered the network plot as security preparations were made for the United Nations General Assembly in New York City last month. Agents, who believe the plot is tied to the Chinese government, have determined that the network would have been capable of sending 30 million anonymous tests every minute, enough to collapse the telecommunications system in the tristate area.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Director Curran as he heads the Secret Service and oversees the protection of the president and high-level officials.
- For Secret Service agents as they conduct operations to ensure the security of the president, vice president, and other members of the administration.
- With gratitude to the Lord that the plot was discovered and thwarted before it could be implemented.
