The provision is part of the Immigration and Nationality Act
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that President Donald Trump’s administration will be enforcing fingerprint registry for illegal immigrants in the United States. They are implementing a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act, that requires unauthorized noncitizens over the age of 13 to register with the federal government.
Secretary Noem stated, “The Alien Registration Act says that within 30 days of being in this country illegally, someone must register with the federal government. They will be fingerprinted. They must announce that they are here. And if they do so, they can avoid criminal charges and fines and we will help them relocate right back to their home country.”
Over 11 million people are living in the United States illegally, and Secretary Noem pledged to enforce the consequences of six months of prison or a $1,000 fine for those who do not register to this new list.
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message for those in our country illegally: leave now,” Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin stated. “If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Noem to receive God’s guidance as she implements the fingerprint registry provision of federal immigration law.
- For DHS, FBI, and ICE officials as they carry out immigration operations and deportations.
