Issue 650 – Verse of the Week

June 6th – June 12th, 2024

For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes that is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before the nations. – Isaiah 61:11

Cultivating Your Garden

It is the gardening time of year. Whether you have planted a few pots along your sidewalk, put in a kitchen garden, or plowed and seeded major acreage, it is the season that God has established for new life to sprout from the ground. Of course, gardens and fields need tending. The soil may need to be enriched, the seeds sown at proper depths, and rows cultivated to remove weeds. However, the reward of diligently keeping a garden pays off with a bountiful harvest of plants and food. The Lord calls you to tend to your spiritual “garden” as well. Enrich your soil with time spent in His Word. Nurture seeds of righteousness and keep the “weeds” at bay through prayer and repentance. God desires that you should flourish. Just as your garden abounds with all manner of flowers and fruits, your life should be full of joy, thankfulness, and praise to God in a harvest others can observe and for which He receives all the glory.
