Judge Cancels Trial Date in Classified Documents Case Against Trump

She states that there are too many pre-trial issues to resolve before a trial could begin.

U.S. Southern Florida District Court Judge Aileen Cannon postponed the trial date for former President Donald Trump’s classified documents trial indefinitely, citing issues with the evidence that must be resolved before a jury could hear the federal criminal case.

The judge stated, “Finalization of a trial date at this juncture—before resolution of the myriad and interconnected pre-trial and CIPA issues remaining and forthcoming—would be imprudent and inconsistent with the Court’s duty to fully and fairly consider the various pending pre-trial motions before the Court, critical CIPA issues, and additional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury.“

Judge Cannon noted that the delay would “permit adequate time for hearings and adjudication of substantive pretrial motions, discovery disputes, and CIPA issues, many of which present novel and difficult questions.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Judge Cannon to receive God’s wisdom as she considers and resolves discovery questions and pretrial motions.
  • For judges of the federal judiciary at large as they hear and rule on cases that may impact the presidential election this year.
  • For discernment for former President Trump and his attorneys as they face the various cases that have been brought against him.
