Issue 642 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

President Biden recently announced new federal student loan forgiveness for approximately 2 million borrowers who would be eligible for debt forgiveness through the SAVE program, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, or other debt-canceling programs. He said, in the fall, his administration plans “to deliver up to $20,000 in interest relief to over 20 million borrowers and full forgiveness for millions more.“

Pray for the president and education officials in his administration as they pursue continued debt relief for federal student loan borrowers.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Gary Peters, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin, and Senate Finance Chair Ron Wyden introduced the Fraud Prevention and Recovery Act to address systemic pandemic fraud across government programs and help victims of identity theft recover.

Pray for members of the Senate as they seek to recover funds that were fraudulently obtained during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government is holding a hearing titled “Fighting for a Free Press: Protecting Journalists and their Sources” to examine the federal government’s infringement on the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of the press.

Pray for members of both congressional chambers’ committees as they consider ways to ensure Constitutional freedoms and rights.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

Federal Judge Ana Reyes addressed the Justice Department’s double standard regarding congressional subpoenas. She told DOJ attorneys, “There’s a person in jail right now because you all brought a criminal lawsuit against him because he did not appear for a House subpoena.” President Biden’s administration prosecuted and imprisoned an advisor of former President Trump yet has blocked federal prosecutors from testifying regarding Hunter Biden in the House of Representatives impeachment investigation.

For wisdom for judges and justices in the federal judiciary to uphold and rule according to the nation’s laws.
