Issue 640 – Verse of the Week

March 28th – April 3rd, 2024

A joyful heart is good medicine. – Proverbs 17:22

Strengthening Joy

God’s purpose for you is that you should have joy. While many things may offer you happiness, such as relationships or experiences that add meaning to your life, true joy is in knowing, loving, and spending time with God. David wrote, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). Nehemiah told the exiles returning to Jerusalem, “The joy of the LORD is your strength“ (Nehemiah 8:10). Recall Hebrews 12:2 as you face trials on Earth, “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.“ During your observations of Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, receive strength from the Master by spending time with Him and rejoicing in His salvation!
