Issue 629 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Elections

A U.S. District Court judge ruled that challenges made regarding voting eligibility in Georgia do not constitute voter intimidation. The judge said there was insufficient evidence to show intent to intimidate, coerce, or threaten Georgia voters.

Pray for judges and election officials where challenges are being made to the current status of voter rolls and the eligibility of voters.

Pray for America’s Military

A federal judge ruled that the U.S. Military Academy at West Point can continue to consider race as a factor in admissions. The judge declined to issue a preliminary injunction at a time when the school is in its “mid-admissions cycle.”

Pray for U.S. governing officials and judges as race and diversity in the armed forces are considered as factors in admitting students to the nation’s military academies.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The United Arab Emirates brokered a deal by which Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners. Ukrainian President Zelensky said 230 Ukrainians were returned, including 213 soldiers and sergeants, 11 officers and six civilians. In exchange, Russia received 248 soldiers.

Pray for wisdom for U.S. and Ukrainian leaders as Russia continues air, drone, and missile attacks against Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

A report from a senior U.S. intelligence official says China’s plans for space warfare have the Chinese military using cyberattacks and electronic jamming that will disrupt U.S. satellites. The report also stated their future plans include small robot satellites that could “crab or crush” American military space sensors.

Pray for U.S. military and technology officials as they assess how space will play out as a war front with China or others with advanced technology.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly warned against the use of drugs intended to treat diabetes for “cosmetic” weight loss. Such drugs have recently gained popularity, creating shortages for those who need them for health.

Pray for physicians and medical professionals to be discerning in their prescriptions of drugs intended to address Type 2 diabetes.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

With the war against Hamas now entering its third month, Israeli leaders have stressed the need for total victory. Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “We must not stop the war until we complete all its objectives: the elimination of Hamas, the return of our hostages, and the promise that Gaza won’t pose a threat to Israel anymore.” Meanwhile, President Biden’s administration through many of its officials, including Secretaries Blinken and Austin, continues to lobby Israel for something less.

Pray for Israel’s leaders to do what is prudent for their nation and the area.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said last week the economy of the United States is achieving a “soft landing” as inflation continues to ease. “It is my hope that it will continue,” she said.

Pray for Americans who are struggling to overcome remaining high costs.

Pray for Goodness in America

After vetoing legislation that would prohibit transgender surgeries for minors, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced he was signing an executive order to ban such sex-change surgeries. Although the legislation had also banned the use of puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones, the governor’s executive order does not.

Give thanks for the partial change of heart of Governor DeWine and pray that he would go further in protecting children from irreversible transgender therapies.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Governor Mike Parson of Missouri signed an executive order that will prohibit any entity with ties to the Chinese Communist Party from purchasing agricultural land within 10 miles of any “critical” military installations in his state.

The New Hampshire House of Representatives passed a bill barring medical professionals from performing transgender genital surgeries on minors. The measure now goes to the state senate, where it is expected to pass.

Pray for state legislators, governors, and officials as they pursue agendas in the new year.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“In our crazy world, what feels like evil on the rise, I think God is giving greater testimony globally to His respect and His great love for all people. God has created us all for a love relationship, and that’s true in every nation. … God is not all of a sudden showing up … I believe He is doing this because He wants every person of every nation to know that He’s made a way for everyone to be forgiven and made right with Him, as a gift.“ – Pastor John Burke, Gateway Church, Austin, Texas, from book Imagine the God of Heaven
