U.S. Releases Ally of Venezuelan President for 10 Americans

A former military contractor is also being extradited to the United States in the deal.

The United States has freed an ally of President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela in exchange for the release of 10 American detainees and the extradition of a former military contractor who is implicated in a corruption scandal.

Regarding the returning Americans, President Joe Biden stated, “These individuals have lost far too much precious time with their loved ones, and their families have suffered every day in their absence. I am grateful that their ordeal is finally over, and that these families are being made whole once more.“

The president said that the fugitive, “who fled the United States before he could be sentenced for his lead role in a brazen bribery and corruption case – was arrested and returned to the United States from Venezuela so that he will face justice for crimes he committed against the U.S. Government and the American people.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his administration as they work to secure the release of wrongfully detained Americans worldwide.
  • For wisdom for President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken as they negotiate for imprisoned U.S. citizens.
  • For discernment for Americans as they plan to travel around the globe.
