Two Russian Nationals Charged with Hacking

They attempted to gain access to computers in the U.S., UK, and other countries.

A federal grand jury has indicted two Russian nationals with charges of conspiracy to hack the government of the United States. The indictment alleges that the two individuals, known as the “Callisto Group,” regularly targeted the computers of U.S. government officials, researchers, and journalists with phishing attacks, attempting to hack into personal information on behalf of the Russian government. The group also targeted prominent officials in the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and member countries in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

“The Russian government continues to target the critical networks of the United States and our partners,” said Justice Department’s National Security Division Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen. “The Department of Justice will respond to such behavior with an even more determined commitment to disrupt those activities and to hold accountable the individuals responsible.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Assistant Attorney General Olsen as he heads the DOJ’s National Security Division.
  • For Attorney General Garland to be led by God as he oversees the Justice Department.
  • For U.S. officials as they seek to prevent phishing and hacking attempts of sensitive and private information.
