State Department Official Discusses Hamas Hostages

He says that the terror group may continue to hold hostages so they do not report what has been done to them.

State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said on Monday that it is likely that more women hostages have not been released by Hamas because of what they might say about what the terrorists have done to them in captivity.

“When you look at all the atrocities that Hamas carried out on Oct. 7, and the atrocities that they’ve carried out since, the fact that they continue to hold women hostages, the fact that they continue to hold children hostages, the fact that it seems one of the reasons they don’t want to turn women over that they’ve been holding hostage – and the reason this pause fell apart – is they don’t want those women to talk about what happened to them during their time in custody,” Spokesman Miller said.

He added, “There is very little that I would put beyond Hamas.”

Of the 250 or so persons the terror group abducted, they currently retain around 122, including Israeli citizens, foreign nationals, and American citizens. A temporary truce ended Friday.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Blinken to be prudent in his negotiations regarding Americans being held abroad.
  • For believers who work in the State Department to seek the Lord’s guidance in their roles.
  • For the peace of Jerusalem and for wisdom for Israeli leaders as they seek to eliminate Hamas.
