Speaker Johnson Releases January 6 Video

Senator Lee calls for an investigation of the J6 committee.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson of Louisiana said the House Administration Committee will begin releasing security camera footage of the events that occurred on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, beginning with 90 hours of video.

The speaker said there are more than 40,000 hours of footage and all of it will be released over the course of several months on the committee’s website. About five percent of footage considered to “involve sensitive security information related to the building architecture” will be withheld from public viewing.

Speaker Johnson said releasing the video “will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials.”

Senator Mike Lee of Utah and others are calling for an investigation into the actions of the House January 6 committee. Senator Lee questioned whether or not members of the committee ever watched the footage, wondering if some of the video was deliberately lost or destroyed.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Speaker Johnson as he presides over the House of Representatives.
  • For members of the House Administration Committee as they release the January 6 footage.
  • For wisdom for members of the Senate as they voice concerns and consider investigations into the House J6 Select Committee.
