House Judiciary Committee Interrupted by Protestors

Hearing on free speech for college students disrupted by pro-Hamas demonstrators.

The House Judiciary Committee’s hearing on free speech for college students was interrupted this week by a group of pro-Hamas protesters.

The protesters interrupted the first witness multiple times with phrases such as “Free Palestine,” “Free Gaza,” and “End the siege and the occupation now.” One protester escorted out by Capitol Police was shouting as the witness prepared to start his opening statement.

The committee continued the hearing while protesters interjected sporadically before being escorted out. The committee interviewed Connor Ogrydziak, a recent college graduate who said that conservative students on college campuses are facing a “continuous uphill battle” against those who oppose their views.

Committee chair Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio acknowledged the perspectives of Ogrydziak and the other witnesses. “Hostility towards conservative points of view has grown worse,” Chairman Jordan said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Chair Jordan and members of the House Judiciary Committee as they investigate the increased hostility toward free speech on American college campuses.
  • For God to work in the hearts and minds of Americans to embrace His love and grace.
