First Lady Melania Trump gathered representatives from Ukraine and Russia at the White House on Thursday. The meeting commemorated the ceasefire in the region of Oleshky, Ukraine, despite the ongoing war. A Ukrainian representative presented Mrs. Trump with the Order of Princess Olga, an award from President Volodymyr Zelensky, recognizing her role in securing the ceasefire in Oleshky.
First Lady Melania Trump acknowledged, “The ceasefire in Oleshky would not be possible without President Putin and President Zelensky. Their cooperation establishes a meaningful precedent for advancing peace throughout the region.”
“We have chosen humanity over war,“ the first lady said. “Undeniably, the lives of innocent people must transcend the division of war. I hope Oleshky inspires greater peace. Every significant transformation begins with a small spark.“
