Issue 617 – Verse of the Week

October 19th – October 25th, 2023

Have you not put a hedge of protection around him and his house and all that he has on every side?     Job 1:10

Hedge of Protection

Today’s verse was a question Satan directed to God concerning Job. It was obviously a rhetorical query because the answer to it was a resounding “yes.” Job was righteous, he was filled with faith, and God honored that. The story of Job recounts the tremendous losses and suffering he was put through as God allowed him to be tested, but Job endured. In the end, he says, “I know that you can do all things, that no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2), and the Lord restored him. As you look at nations like the United States and Israel today, you might wonder if God has removed His hedge of protection. Whatever the answer, Job’s contention that no purpose of the Lord can be thwarted remains just as true today. Continue to be faithful, draw near to the Lord, and magnify Him. Pray for endurance for yourself, for this nation, and for Israel.
