It is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. – 1 Peter 3:17

Former President Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on this day in 2002. The award recognized his commitment to humanitarian work and promotion of economic and social development as well as his efforts to resolve international conflict. The center he established promotes human rights and seeks to alleviate human suffering. As a child of God, you are instructed by the apostle Paul, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all“ (Romans 12:18). Regarding the provision of assistance for the comfort and needs of others, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me“ (Matthew 25:40). As you pray for those in authority in the United States today, ask the Lord to guide you in the ways you can show His love for others in a tangible way.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For the president and members of his administration as they seek to provide aid for humanitarian needs.
  • For wisdom for Administrator Samantha Power as she heads the U.S. Agency for International Development.
