Issue 615 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The Department of Homeland Security refused to respond to a Freedom of Information Act request on its authority to police misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation. The department also did not invoke a FOIA exemption to the request.

Pray for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and other administration officials to respond to requests from the public, the media and Congress for information regarding their actions.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey hosted a panel of activists and experts to discuss artificial intelligence and its potential impact on civil rights. “I love technology and innovation,” he said, “but I also know that technology can elevate the power of discrimination.”

Pray for members of both the House and Senate as they work with experts on regulating artificial intelligence.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic sent a letter to the inspector general of the Health and Human Services Department. The letter states that they have information that the Central Intelligence Agency brought in Dr. Anthony Fauci “without a record of entry” to “influence” the agency’s review of the origins of COVID-19 and make a “low confidence assessment” that the virus came from a Wuhan-based laboratory.

Pray that U.S. officials succeed in bringing what the government has done in secret into the light (Luke 8:17).

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

An amicus (friend of the court) brief has been signed by more than a dozen governmental entities, including the City of Seattle, requesting the Supreme Court to review the case of Johnson v. City of Grants Pass. That case permanently stopped the city from enforcing an ordinance prohibiting public camping unless the city first provides shelter beds for each homeless individual named in the injunction. They seek to have authority returned to local elected officials.

Pray for wisdom for the Supreme Court justices as they determine which cases to include in the new session.
