U.S. Congressman Carjacked at Gunpoint in D.C.

Representative Cuellar was unharmed in the incident and is cooperating with law enforcement.

Representative Henry Cuellar of Texas was carjacked near his residence near the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., Monday night. Police recovered his white Honda C-HR with a Texas license plate which was taken by “three black males wearing all black clothing” who accosted the congressman with guns. It remains unclear if any arrests have been made.

This is the second time a member of Congress has been the victim of a crime this year. Representative Angie Craig of Minnesota was assaulted in her Washington, D.C., apartment building in February.

Violent crime in the District of Columbia has risen around 39 percent year to date, and as many as 752 carjackings have taken place this year.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • With gratitude that Representative Cuellar was unharmed and his vehicle returned.
  • For the safety of U.S. governing officials as crime in the nation’s capital continues to rise.
  • For wisdom for the mayor, city council, and other authorities in Washington, D.C.
