Issue 611 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

According to the U.S. Space Force, the South Korean and U.S. militaries will be more closely integrating their respective systems for tracking missile launches from North Korea. The two nations anticipate that Japan will join with them soon, as part of a trilateral cooperation effort being developed on several high-level objectives.

Pray for U.S. and allied military leaders as they collaborate on defense initiatives.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Both Ukraine and Russia are top exporters of grain including barley and wheat as well as sunflower seed and oil, but the war has caused severe disruptions globally in the food supply. As a result, prices have risen and created, as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said, one of “the most disruptive periods in decades for global food security.”

Pray for those around the world whose lives are being severely impacted by food shortages as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

A severe drought in Panama includes a significant shortage of water for the canal. This has caused a backup of a number of international cargo vessels that are sitting at anchor off the coasts, waiting for the opportunity to transit the canal. The El Nino weather cycle is said to be the cause of the drought. Panama’s government is concerned that as dry conditions continue, the worldwide economy will see adverse effects.

Pray for the people of the U.S. and other nations to turn to the Lord in repentance, recognizing His power to send rain.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Three manufacturers of infant formula have been warned by the Food and Drug Administration that they are in violation of federal safety regulations. Officials assured the public that the violations are not tied to current recalls and products currently on the market from those companies do not pose a risk to consumers.

Pray for FDA inspectors who are tasked with enforcing food safety standards.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Israel’s defense minister delivered a warning to the United Nations Secretary General that Iran is pushing  Hezbollah, their proxy in Lebanon, to attack the northern border of Israel. The defense minister urged that the UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon be empowered to prevent incursions by Hezbollah. Minister Yoav Gallant said, “The potential for escalation on the northern border is increasing… by Hezbollah’s military buildup.”

Pray for the United Nations secretary general and officials as they consider intervention on the Israel-Lebanon border.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

The National Retail Federation reports that smash and grabs, and retail theft that results in lost inventory and damage to shops and stores cost retailers $94.5 billion in losses in 2021. For purposes of comparison, that is nearly the amount of the entire annual budget for the state of Florida. The number is likely to increase in 2022 and rise even more this year. Such activities are forcing even major retailers to close.

Pray for law enforcement, city councils, and prosecutors as they determine how they will or will not address theft and the impact it has on retailers.

Pray for Goodness in America

Three young siblings of a Maine family started a bereavement summer camp on a Maine lake to help kids ages 8 to 17 who have experienced the suicide of a loved one. Said one of the founding teens, “So when we initially got the idea, we were thinking we would do just like, you know, maybe a camping weekend, or something with a canoe trip, with suicide survivors. And it evolved into the idea of an actual, more structured, summer camp.”

Give thanks for young people, like these teens, who, having suffered a family loss to suicide themselves, put their grief to work in helping others deal with similar losses.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The Attorney General of Alabama said in a court filing that the state can file criminal charges against those who assist others getting abortion care outside the state. The attorney general said, “That conduct is Alabama-based and is within Alabama’s power to prohibit.”

A number of legislators in North Dakota are expressing concern over the state’s charity gambling laws. A particular issue is the expansion of electronic pull tabs, also called e-tabs, into locations such as gas stations that could be accessed by minors.

Pray for state legislators and officials to do what is right and not what is political or socially expedient.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“When everyone is claiming that Jesus endorses all of their political opinions—know what Scripture actually says. Don’t put your ultimate hope in politics or any politicians because idolatry is foolish. There is one perfect Savior and His name is Jesus. You are not inspiring or winning when you are mean and cruel toward others. You are always representing yourself, your family, and the Lord—so think about being an ambassador where you live, work, learn, and play.“ – Pastor Jesse Bradley, Grace Community Church, Auburn, Washington, August 2023
