Issue 607 – Verse of the Week

August 10th – August 16th, 2023

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.   Romans 8:37

What Things?

When you consider the context of being more than a conqueror, you will see that the apostle Paul is referring more to the sufferings Christians may be called upon to endure than the everyday life of the believer. It is evident that many in America have a hostility toward God and toward those who follow Jesus. A recent newspaper even called believers “dangerous and full of hate.“ God provides the courage to overcome the hurtful persecution of words. But how will you respond when the things Paul dealt with, his tribulations, hardships, and difficulties, come to your doorstep?  As the End Times draw closer, persecution is expanding. Standing strong begins with a mind fixed on Jesus and a reliance on the promises of God. “Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed… for the battle is not yours but God’s. … Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf” (2 Chronicles 20:15, 17).
