Senator Feinstein Hospitalized After Fall

Her injuries were not serious and she has returned home.

A spokesperson for California Senator Dianne Feinstein said the 90-year-old was hospitalized briefly as a precautionary measure after she had fallen at her home in San Francisco. The senator is the oldest member of Congress and has been a member of the Senate since 1992. Prior to that, she was mayor of San Francisco for 20 years.

The spokesperson said following her hospitalization, she returned home. “All her scans were clear,” and there were no serious injuries, the report said.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois said previously that he was “monitoring her medical condition almost on a daily basis.” Others, concerned over failing cognitive abilities, have said they can see she’s hurting. The senator’s daughter has power of attorney over her mother’s legal affairs.

Senator Feinstein previously pledged to retire after her current term, but she has rejected calls for her resignation.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senator Feinstein and other members of Congress who have experienced deteriorating health.
  • For wisdom for the legislators and their colleagues as they assess their fitness and ability to servce in public office.
  • For members of Congress as they debate and consider term limits for the Legislative Branch.
