Issue 604 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The Environmental Protection Agency announced two programs that would allow the government to partner with private sector entities to finance green projects with the establishment of a “climate” or “green” $20 billion bank. The funding was authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Pray for agency and department leaders as they authorize funding for green and climate projects.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, both of Texas, joined with ten other Senate members requesting answers from Attorney General Merrick Garland on reports of alleged Chinese intelligence centers operating in the United States. The senators said they have national security concerns over the Chinese Civic Centers.

Pray for members of Congress as they address building a federal budget and the need to pass it by September 30.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

A report released by the House Judiciary Committee shows the FBI and Ukrainian intelligence agency collaborated to stop Russian disinformation on social media. However, many of the accounts were not properly vetted, and the FBI was without a legal basis to request their removal.

Pray for committee members as they head up various investigations in both the House and Senate.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The first cases on the Supreme Court’s docket in the next session include a challenge to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s funding mechanism, a racial gerrymandering case from South Carolina, and a suit involving the Americans with Disabilities Act involving hotel accommodations. Oral arguments begin in October.

Pray for the Supreme Court justices and the travels or speaking engagements they may have during their summer recess.
