House Speaker Holds Event Honoring Israel’s 75th Anniversary

He replaced Representative Tlaib’s planned “Nakba” event at the Capitol.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy scheduled a congressional event at the Capitol Visitor Center to discuss the 75th anniversary of the U.S.-Israel relationship. His event cancels the anti-Israel one that Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan had planned to hold.

“It’s wrong for members of Congress to traffic in anti-Semitic tropes about Israel,” Speaker McCarthy said. “As long as I’m speaker, we are going to support Israel’s right to self-determination and self-defense, unequivocally and in a bipartisan fashion.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Speaker McCarthy to seek God’s wisdom as he leads the House of Representatives.
  • For federal legislators as they consider and discuss the relationship between the U.S. and Israel.
  • For the leaders and people of the nation of Israel as they experience increasing violence and threats from neighboring countries and within.
