Additional National Prayer Needs
Pray for our Military
The Massachusetts Air National Guard has been stripped of its “intelligence mission” after the leaking of classified documents by one of its airmen. The Air Force Secretary has also directed the force’s inspector general to conduct a thorough investigation, determining what went wrong and crafting policies to fix it.
Pray for military officials as they assess the damage done to national security and relationships with allies as a result of the leaked documents.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Germany delivered a Patriot missile defense system to the Ukrainian military to help guard their air spaces against Russian forces. Ukraine has recently been working with depleted ammunition stockpiles.
Pray for officials who are coordinating support for Ukraine during the new offensive in eastern regions currently held by Russian forces.
Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS
U.S. special forces carried out an evacuation of the American embassy in Sudan. They crept in and out of Khartoum with helicopters on the ground for less than one hour while other nations also organized evacuations of their embassies and citizens from the war-torn nation. “The capital has become a ghost city,” said one evacuee.
Pray for the safety of thousands of Americans who remain in Sudan.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
New research shows that one in four middle and high school students misuse ADHD drugs. They often receive the meds from peers or friends with prescriptions for purposes of “getting high,” simply experimenting, or sometimes for weight loss. The drugs are intended to help minors with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders to have more focus and self-control.
Pray for those in positions of authority as they seek an end to the drug crisis, and for the health and safety of American youth.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
The speaker of the Knesset announced that U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will deliver a speech in Israel on May 1 that supports the U.S.-Israel relationship on the 75th anniversary of Israel’s statehood.
Pray for peace and safety in Israel as they celebrate their statehood.
Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY
The CEO of a real estate investment firm said the commercial real estate market in the U.S. may collapse soon. It is estimated that the effects could result in a downturn as significant as the crisis in 2008. At the same time, housing starts fell during March by 17.2 percent from the year before.
Pray for wisdom for U.S. financial officials in the public and private sectors as they evaluate the real estate market.
Pray for Goodness in America
The 34th annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon took place this week in Washington. For the first time, Congressional Bible reading also occurred in the U.S. Capitol, with Congressional members participating in Bible reading at the office of the Chaplain of the House of Representatives.
Give thanks for the honor given to the Bible by those in Congress who participated in the Bible reading marathon.
Pray for Needs Across the States
Governor Janet Mills of Maine has asked legislators to pass an abortion bill that eliminates restrictions, right up to the moment before a baby is born. Current law allows abortions until viability, roughly 24 weeks.
The Senate in Nevada narrowly passed a bill that would legalize physician-assisted suicide with a pill, which they are calling “end-of-life care.” The measure now goes to the state’s House. Eight states and the District of Columbia currently allow for assisted suicide.
Pray for state officials to have a change of heart toward the sanctity of life, from conception to natural death.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
“There’s a mistaken idea in our culture that love and hate are antithetical, but they’re actually allies. If you love life, you should hate murder. If you love God, you should hate Satan. And so on. The more we get to know God through reading His word, the more we want to align ourselves with His desires and values and less with what the world deems valuable.“ – Mark Driscoll, “Real Faith,“ 2023
