January 15th – Sunday

We ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. – 1 Thessalonians 4:1

On this day in 1943, the Pentagon building was completed and dedicated for use by the Department of Defense. The ground had been broken for its construction on September 11, 1941, and construction moved quickly to complete the building for use at the end of the Second World War. American architect George Bergstrom designed the building with a shape so iconic that the term “Pentagon” is now used interchangeably to refer to the leadership of the Department of Defense as the base of operations continues from the massive complex. The Pentagon remains the largest office building in the world, constituting 6.5 million square feet of floor space used by 26,000 people on a daily basis. As you pray today, ask that the Lord would accomplish His purposes through this defense organization and all who work there.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other military leaders within the Pentagon as they advise the president and defense secretary.
  • For the president and Secretary of Defense to seek God’s direction as they receive briefings on national security.
