Legislation Would Block Citizenship for Dependent Illegals

New rule would cut migrant benefits.

Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas proposed a resolution that would prohibit illegal immigrants from becoming citizens if they depend on taxpayer-funded benefits. The bill would counter a new rule from the Department of Homeland Security that would reduce the number of benefits counted against an illegal immigrant’s application for permanent residency in the U.S.

“DHS’s proposed public charge rules continue our country down the dangerous path of incentivizing migrants to illegally cross our southern border. Granting citizenship to illegal aliens who would be dependent on federal benefits is a burden that American taxpayers and our national debt cannot afford,” Senator Marshall said.

The senator added, “We need to get back to policies like this if our country is going to have any hope at stopping the invasion at our southern border.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senator Marshall as he proposes to disincentivize illegal migrants from using government benefits.
  • For members of Congress as they consider legislation regarding immigration.
  • For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s leading as he heads DHS.
